A tale of three cities or more
K and I drove back yesterday night after a marathon friends’ tour. Yes. Four friends in different cities all in the space of two days. His, Mine and Ours. On our ride home it was quiet most of the way, each of us lost in our own thoughts. One thing we agreed on though was that it was quite a fun weekend. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just time spent with friends. The kind where you relax and watch a movie together or just sit up part of the night talking about career and personal goals or coo over a new born totally oblivious of the surroundings.
One of the highlights of the weekend trip was the food of course. It was amusing and amazing to see how much of our love we pour into the food we make for guests. Each of the families we visited had kids, were working weekends and yet they took the time to make something special. Food that takes time to prep and cook. Food made almost lovingly. Its the non verbal things that say a lot. A hug as you leave, the spontaneous smile that goes from ear to ear. The wistful wave as we turn the bend.
Is it any wonder that we love crossing valleys to see them?
Laks!
It was great spending time with you and K and going down the memory lane. Only wish we could have spent more time together
Maybe this calls for another trip to NJ
Laks
I know what you mean – coming so far away from Singapore, we miss our friends so much. I used to always use this quote for my very good friends – “Friends are family by choice”
Have a wonderful week ahead.
@Laks: May be it does
@Bavani: Totally with you on that. Crossing the seas does mean leaving behind so many people that matter.
Laksh, Just wanted to let you know that I have linked this post to my blog. Thanks!
